Cinema Studies

The program focuses on academic courses and cinema studies and emphasizes the unique film production project.  The participants will enjoy academic courses and academic Ulpan with the possibility of being fully integrated in the intellectual as well as social life of the students on campus.

Admission terms
Young people aged 18 and over who have graduated highy school in English, Spanish, Portuguese and French speaking countries.

Participants in the program are offered:

  • A curriculum complying with the regulations of the MASA company
  • Academic courses recognized by the CHEI (in different languages)
  • Graduation certificates and academic accreditation
  • Graduates will be able to continue studying towards a degree at Sapir.  The studies during the MASA program will be recognized and their continued studies will be coordinated with the Students Administration of the Ministry of Absorption
  • Student cards, membership in the Students Association and use of all campus facilities, including discounts

Academic Components

  • Academic Hebrew Ulpan, by proficiency level
  • Four Academic Courses; Introduction to the Modern History of the Jewish people and the History of Zionism, Introductory to the History of the State of Israel, The History of Film, and the Introduction to Israeli Film.
  • Production Project - students in the program will carry out a joint production project with students in the Film Department to be performed in the Student film festival "Darom" (South)

The Film Department at Sapir Academic College is a much sought-after program by Israeli students, and has won great professional renown due to the intensive involvement of both lecturers and students in the authentic Israeli experience.  In conjunction with the film department, the college will provide overseas students with the top lecturers in their fields, lecturing in the students' mother-tongues.  This should create a riveting program that will culminate in the joint production project that internalizes the values on which the program's rationale is based and bring to fulfillment the students' professional abilities.  The films created as final projects will be screened at the Cinema South Film Festival, held every year in Sderot's cinematheque, and in student film competitions.
